Curl Curl House – Trias Studio – Built by Avalon Constructions.
Curl Curl House is located on Kurringgai land. Envisaged as a series of brick towers, which stand sentinel within a native garden, ringed by gum trees.
A carefully constructed home designed with private and shared living spaces wrapping around a central courtyard and swimming pool creating a relaxed, unique home on Sydney’s northern coastal strip.
Avalon Constructions were responsible for delivering this one-of-a-kind house designed by Trias. Hardwood timber details, accent detailed brickwork, and concrete insertions to fine tolerances all help deliver on the architect’s intent.
The majority of the construction work is on show, its finish is the final finish, inside and out - blackbutt timber, exposed brickwork, textured rendered walls, handmade tiles, brass insertions, polished concrete floors, and large hidden cavity doors & screens all have been united by an attitude of caring for the details.

Australian Institute of Architecture Awards for Trias
Curl Curl House by Trias has won the Australian Institute of Architecture Award - New Houses.
Trias has also been awarded a ‘Commendation for Sustainable Architecture’ by the Australian Insitute of Architects.
“Curl Curl House - TRIAS Architecture is the beautiful resolution of a very clear and successful design strategy.
It is an incredibly cohesive design. A refrained palette of materials is masterfully detailed such that every element of the house seamlessly belongs. Deep reveals conceal the complexity of sliding glazing, screening and blinds, that enable spaces to respond sensitively to the climate.
The house shows us how to be both contextual and utterly unique in its expression.
